Growth Form and Foliage
- Grows as a tree up to 30 m tall or a shrub.
- Leaves, when not drying yellow, dry green or dark brown. The leaf margins are slightly rolled inwards.
Flowers
Flowers feature five petals.
Fruits
The mostly roundish fruits are not winged and measure up to 15 cm (6 in) in diameter.
Habitat
Lowland rainforests while some species grow at higher altitudes on hills. Others occur in peat swamps.
Ethnobotanical features
Most widely used for timber building material and can also be made into paper, pulp, veneer, plywood, materials for roof or shingles, to repair and build houses, such as making beams, rafters, battens, poles and other benefits as firewood.
